Detectives in Kiambu County have begun looking into the circumstances surrounding the death of a female officer from the Kiandutu Police Station in the Thika West Sub-County.
It was reported that on November 25 around 9:45 a.m., the police officer shot herself in the chest.
A fellow police officer heard a loud bang coming from the deceased’s room and immediately reported it.
He then alerted the station’s OCS, who arrived shortly afterward with more cops.
“The cop was pronounced dead at the scene. The gun, together with its 19 rounds, was brought in for administrative processing,” as it was stated in the report.
The cops arrived to find the woman laying on the ground with a Steyr Rifle at her side.
According to the investigation, the deceased was provided the firearm with the serial number S.NO.3177205 just before she and her coworkers were to go on a patrol assignment.
Her coworkers were apparently taken aback by her suicide since she had displayed no symptoms of mental distress in the lead-up to it.
Her coworkers, however, noticed that on the evening of November 24 she had written a strange statement as her Whatsapp status.
According to the article, she sent a message on social media that stated, “since tomorrow may never be mine,” along with a link to the song “Sweet bye-bye” by Salem Oregon.
Authorities took her remains to Kenyatta University Funeral Home to complete their investigation.
