Chuka Igambang’ombe Returning Officer Josephine Mwiti denied reports of her absence in an interview with The Standard published on August 23.

She begged the public to disregard the rumors, saying that she was OK and living at her own house.

On Tuesday, August 23, a Twitter user said that the Returning Officer had been missing since Monday. This was the first time that her supposed disappearance was talked about on social media.

The tweet got a lot of attention on Twitter, and people shared screenshots of it in WhatsApp groups.
Kenyans asked the IEBC for more information on social media, but at the time of going to press, they hadn’t said anything.
