Auctioneer who evicted Westlands family freed on bail.

    Published on

Sh200,000 cash bail was posted for the release of the auctioneer who was arrested for using violence to evict a residence in Westlands.

According to Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe’s decision, Zachary Baraza of Siuma Auctioneers must cooperate with investigators whenever requested to do so.

Once charges are filed, he will forfeit the cash bail.

According to the court, the police also failed to prove that Zachary poses a flight danger.

In response to the Asian family’s allegations that Baraza, from Siuma Auctioneers, forcibly evicted them from their Westlands house, he was taken into custody.

According to Niraj Shah, the complaint, Baraza brought 25 individuals to Shah’s family home in the Westlands neighborhood and then proceeded to wreak havoc on the businesses there.

The DCI has now reported that they have determined Sh70 million in damages were caused by the vandalism of the property’s structures.

The DCI requested that Baraza be held for 14 days since they had not yet recovered the complainant’s stolen home items and other personal things.

The police stated Baraza should stay in detention until they record witness accounts and get a complete valuation assessment from a licensed property valuer to evaluate Shah’s true loss from the damage.

Unfortunately, the court did not grant the plea.
