Azimio Coalition Delays Demonstration in Kisii

Date:

The Azimio coalition announced on Sunday, February 12, that it had postponed its rally that was scheduled to be held in Kisii on Monday, February 13. The postponement came after a section of political leaders from Kisii warned former Prime Minister Raila Odinga against holding demonstrations in the region.

Kisii ODM Party Chairperson Speaks Out

Kisii County Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party chairperson Kerosi Ondieki revealed that the decision to postpone the rally was made after wide consultations. Ondieki urged leaders from the region to support ODM and Azimio’s agenda. He beseeched dissidents to give everyone a chance to attend Azimio rallies and share their opinions because Kisii is an ODM stronghold. Ondieki tentatively set the date for a rally on Friday, February 17, subject to agreement from members of the region.
