Elected as the MP for the Luanda constituency in the last general election on the DAP party ticket, Maungu welcomed the Azimio la Umoja brigade to his homecoming party at Esiandumba grounds before the group headed to Kakamega county for a rally.
Leaders in attendance included Raila Odinga, DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Vihiga senator Godfrey Osotsi, and Makadara MP George Aladwa.
Also present were Alengo Usonga MP Samweli Atandi, Oscar Nabulindo (Matungu), Aseka Miradi (Khwisero), and National Assembly minority leader Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja).
Religious leaders were also present at the homecoming ceremony, leading prayers for the first-term MP.
