The Kenyan opposition has launched a movement ‘Ruto Must Go’ to protest against what they call an illegitimate, reckless, and dictatorial regime.
The Kenya Kwanza regime, which they claim is dangerous for democracy, has made life unbearable for almost every Kenyan by removing subsidies on basic commodities and services, making them unaffordable for many.
The opposition is calling for a countrywide mass action to demand the restoration of subsidies and lower taxes, as well as to protest the importation of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), and what they describe as Ruto’s accumulation of all powers.
They have invoked constitutional provisions that allow peaceful assembly, demonstration, and petitioning of public authorities.
The opposition is calling on supporters to act immediately to restore people’s power, choices, and sovereignty in who governs them and how.
