Felix Kipng’ok, 36, has been selected by Governor Benjamin Cheboi of Baringo to take over for his late father as Deputy Governor of the county.
On September 14, Felix’s dad, Charles Kipng’ok, passed away after collapsing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) before boarding an aircraft to Mombasa.
The name of Felix Kipng’ok was submitted to the county legislature for confirmation by the governor via the leader of the majority, Lawi Tallam.
Following the assembly’s consideration, his name was sent to the Committee of Appointment awaiting the composition for review in accordance with Section 32 (d) of the Counties Act.
A resolution on Felix Kipng’ok’s suitability must be approved and passed by the committee within the next 14 days.
When a DG is removed from office due to death, resignation, or impeachment, the governor has 14 days to designate a replacement, and the new DG must be confirmed by the county assembly within 60 days.
Engineer Felix Kipng’ok is the eldest son of Charles Kipng’ok, the late deputy governor.
His dad supposedly became sick with a bad case of the flu symptoms at JKIA on the way to the Council of Governors orientation program.
