When he was forced to leave his magnificent three-acre property in Muthaiga, Nairobi County believed to be worth Ksh555 million, an aggrieved billionaire began to tally his losses.
The tycoon wrote to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki to request the return of his property.
The businessman claims that on October 29, 2022, four armed policemen from the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) stormed into his home with orders to remove him from the prime property.
He said that 15 more armed policemen came in a truck to back up the first group.
The business magnate also requested that Kindiki remove the police personnel from the premises.
The businessman further alleged that the police officers disobeyed a court order blocking the eviction until the dispute was resolved.
The entrepreneur said he bought the premium piece of land in July 2016 from Arthur Magugu, who had served as Finance Minister under President Daniel Moi.
On top of that, he said that it was difficult to track down the contested land’s ownership paperwork because of changes made to the registry’s records.
Case records indicate that the Magugu family made their purchase of the contested property in 1982.
Two other Kenyans, however, have claimed that they paid Ksh320 million for the same property in 2013.
