In a letter dated November 1 and sent to the party’s Executive Director, the ex-lawmaker thanked Raila Odinga and the entire ODM fraternity for allowing her to participate in the party and take on leadership roles within it.
She stated in her resignation letter that she was leaving to give other rising leaders a chance to serve ODM and gain experience in leadership.
“This letter serves as my official resignation as Secretary General for the City and County of Nairobi, for the support and opportunities I’ve had as a member of the ODM, I am eternally indebted to the party’s leader, H.E. Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga.” she stated in a letter
She was an effective grassroots organizer with connections across Nairobi County and a close ally of ODM party chief Raila Odinga.
Since her first election as the ODM party’s candidate for the Mountain View Member of Legislative Council in 2013, Kwamboka has been a prominent figure in the Nairobi political scene.
Since she was the top member of the party from the Kisii community in Nairobi, her departure is a major blow to ODM in its efforts to achieve ethnic balance.
