A third-year female student at Bomet University has been taken into custody for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend in the chest.
The incident took place at the Sewage residential area in Bomet town, where the victim, a fellow third-year student at the same college, had come with a female friend to break up with his girlfriend.
After hearing the news, the suspect, who had concealed a kitchen knife in her undergarments, became upset and stabbed the victim.
Fortunately, the victim’s friend managed to restrain the suspect before any further injuries were inflicted, and the victim was immediately rushed to Tenwek hospital for treatment.
The suspect was later arrested by school security officers and handed over to Bomet central police station for questioning.
This occurrence highlights the prevalence of relationship violence in the country, with experts calling for greater education and awareness to combat the problem.
