Bomet Woman Rep Linet ‘Toto’ Chepkorir Gets Engaged in Private Valentine’s Day Ceremony

Date:

Toto made headlines during the August 2022 General Election after she was elected the MP for Bomet county at just 24 years of age. She was among youthful lawmakers who joined parliament after the August 2022 polls. Others are Mumias East MP Peter Salasya and Kirinyaga Women Representative Njeri Maina.

Bomet Woman Representative Linet ‘Toto’ Chepkorir got engaged on Tuesday, February 14, Valentine’s day. Emmanuel Lemiso, a family friend, confirmed that Toto got engaged to Godfrey Kimutai in a private ceremony at Sarova Panafric Hotel in Nairobi.

“The ceremony was private, and she said yes. The two have been in a relationship for a while and this culminated in the engagement,” Lemiso intimated. He added that Kimutai organised the surprise marriage proposal and reserved one of the conference rooms in the hotel.

Decor also included heart-shaped balloons and the letters ‘marry me’ arranged to set the mood. With Kimitai going down on one knee, Toto did not disappoint. The Woman Representative shared images of the engagement, confirming that she was officially off the market. “And I finally said yes. You are one in a million. May God be with us in this journey. Happy valentine’s day sweetheart, I love you,” she wrote.

Lemiso disclosed that Kimutai is an employee at the Bomet County government. He, alongside other friends, congratulated the couple. “Congratulations to Kim and Chepkorir. Love is beautiful,” he wrote, sharing photos of the two. “Wishing you a glorious ceremony with an abundance of wonderful memories to follow! Congratulations to both of you for finding your life partners on this happy day,” another close friend wrote.

During and after her campaign trail, she kept her love life private, only dismissing being in a relationship with a boda boda rider who ferried her around during her campaigns. However, Toto’s engagement has now lifted the veil of secrecy that had shrouded her love life for a long time.

Toto’s political star has been on the rise since she clinched the Woman Representative seat in the last election. She has been an active participant in parliamentary debates and has championed various causes affecting women, children, and the youth.

Many of her supporters took to social media to congratulate her on the engagement, wishing her a happy and prosperous married life. The news of her engagement also triggered a flurry of reactions from netizens, with some expressing surprise that she had managed to keep her love life under wraps for so long.

Toto is expected to focus on her political career and marriage plans in the coming months. She has not announced any plans to slow down on her work as the Bomet Woman Representative, and her constituents have expressed confidence that she will continue to deliver on her promises.
