Chiloba announced the regulation of online streaming services.

Published on

Kenya’s Communications Authority (CA) has began the process of establishing rules for the country’s internet streaming services.

Ezra Chiloba, director general of the CA, solicited research organizations to conduct a study on internet streaming services in Kenya in a tender notice that was issued on September 1.

Examining the use of online streaming services in comparison to conventional service providers is one of the stated requirements for the research.

The privacy of Kenyans who stream video online and the problems with data privacy are only a few of the topics that will be the subject of this study.

The study’s final report, according to CA, would be submitted in April 2023.

With the proliferation of streaming services made possible by technological and internet advancements, the authority will use the study’s findings as a basis for new rules.
