Chinese traders in Kenya have resumed business at the China Square shopping outlet after an agreement with the Kenyan government.
The Kenya China Chamber of Commerce has welcomed the move and believes that Chinese businesses will contribute to the growth and development of Kenya’s economy through job creation and tax revenue.
The Chinese traders have called for equal treatment for all businesses to create a favorable business environment.
The shopping outlet had closed indefinitely on February 26th after the Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria stated his intention to lock out Chinese traders from the UniCity Mall.
The closure was also due to the inability to handle high customer traffic and complaints of bad shopping experiences.
