    Published on

Six counties have reported a cholera outbreak, and the Ministry of Health is working tirelessly to stop it.

As of Wednesday, October 19th, Kiambu County has the most reported cases with 31, followed by Nairobi County with 17.

The counties of Uasin Gishu (eight), Nakuru (2), Kajiado (2), and Murang’a  (1) are also among those hit.

Only 8 of the reported patients have been released from the hospital; the other 13 are currently being treated there. 40 more people are being treated on an outpatient basis.

At least 15 people were affected in Kiambu, where the outbreak was originally reported, after consuming wedding food and beverages that had been contaminated.

Thankfully, no deaths have been recorded as a result of this outbreak.

The World Health Organization (WHO) asserts that the best way to stop the spread of disease over the long term is to practice excellent sanitation and hygiene.
