Church caretaker stole 1.5M, Harambee money intended for church construction.

The suspect broke into a church and stole approximately Sh1.5 million. The funds were raised on Sunday at Kangemi’s ACK All Saints Mountain View Church for the church’s development.

The event caused great distress among the church’s preachers and congregants.

It was out of the ordinary for church elders to arrive at the church on Monday, October 10 to collect the funds and find the doors open.

When they looked more closely at the altar, they discovered that the money kept in a drawer under the altar had been stolen.

They went straight to the Kangemi police station to report the theft, and immediate investigations revealed that the church’s now-missing caretaker was to blame.

It is believed that he disabled the church’s surveillance cameras by tampering with the electricity, then stole the money from the offering plates.

James Mugera, the head of police in Nairobi, stated that a search has been initiated to find the culprit, who had been living in the church premises but had fled to anonymity after the crime.

He indicated that they are following up on some very promising leads that may help them find the missing guy.
