Cleophas Malala, the Secretary General of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), recently discussed the consequences of parties in the Kenya Kwanza coalition not dissolving.
He emphasized that his main role is to strengthen his party, and he invited other parties to fold and join UDA, citing the example of the Farmers Party, which added over 49,000 registered members to UDA.
Malala also chided parties like Amani National Congress (ANC) and Forum for the Restoration of Democracy-Kenya (FORD-K) for refusing to fold and suggested that UDA’s large numbers would defeat their candidates in National Assembly leadership positions.
He extolled the benefits of Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties joining UDA, which he described as a national party with a presence throughout the country.
ANC officials have stated that they will not dissolve to join UDA.
