Comedian Eric Omondi, along with seven others, were arrested on Tuesday during protests outside Parliament Buildings in Nairobi.
The protesters, consisting of topless young men, were calling for the government to lower the cost of living in the country.

The group attempted to enter Parliament Buildings after National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula failed to address them.
The police ordered the demonstrators to disperse, but they refused, resulting in the police using tear gas to disperse the crowd.
The protests lasted for over 30 minutes, causing business on Parliament Road to come to a standstill.
Omondi has been involved in similar protests before, one in February 2022, and another in November 2021, both demanding increased airplay for Kenyan music.
Omondi and the others spent the night in police custody and are set to appear in court for arraignment on charges of public nuisance.
