Zakaria Kariuki, alias KK Mwenyewe, an impressionist for Kenya’s Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, received over $3000 in donations from the media personality Andrew Kibe and other wellwishers in response to his plea for financial aid for school fees.
On Tuesday, November 1, Andrew Kibe hosted a crowdfunding event on his youtube channel.
According to Kibe, he collaborated with a few of his friends to raise money to pay the fees and promote his talent.
KK Mwenyewe thanked his supporters, saying he would use the funds to pay off his education and then put some of the money into his comic routines.
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja paid up the third-year student’s Ksh10,900 outstanding amount a few days prior to the online fundraising.
Sakaja said he was inspired by his integrity and hard work.

He detailed how he was on the verge of having to discontinue his academic pursuits if he could not come up with the money to pay his school tuition by the October 31 deadline.
After explaining how difficult it was for his family to pay the Ksh29,400 in tuition that was owed to the institution, from which they had only managed to raise Ksh15,500.
