Court Ruling: Nick Mwendwa to Be Charged Afresh

Published on

After the High Court declined to block the Director of Public Prosecutions from charging Football Kenya President Nick Mwendwa again, he will enter a plea before the Kiambu Law Courts on Monday, September 26.

Lady Justice Esther Maina of the High Court concluded that she lacks the authority to prevent new charges against Mwendwa from being filed by the DPP.

Although Mwendwa had a High Court judgment preventing the Director of Public Prosecution from recharging him, they have decided to do so anyhow.

Multiple arrests of the FKF president have occurred at Federation headquarters due to charges of fraud. In November of last year, Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed dissolved the federation.

After the dissolution of the federation, Nick escorted other members of the Goal Project back to their offices in Kandanda House kasarani. This decision was met with criticism from Amina.

CS Amina Mohamed accused Mwendwa of breaking into the offices after being expelled by the Registrar.
The CS claimed the Ministry of Sports still has the Transition Committee in control of football in the country.
