CS Magoha: parents who give principals a hard time over fee arrears should be reported.

Date:

George Magoha, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Education, gave the go-ahead to teachers and principals to file reports with the government about parents who are making it difficult for them to pay students’ school fees.

On Thursday, August 25, during his inspection visit of Kisii county, Magoha spoke to the press and urged the various parties involved in education to instead speak with the children’ parents before sending them home for payments.

He suggested the parties take use of phone technology to negotiate a settlement.

However, principals were authorized to report difficult parents to the Cabinet Secretary’s office and other appr

opriate authorities.

The CS extended his gratitude to those who continue to invest in children despite the rising expense of life.

He also said that he had spoken to students taking the National exams and that they were confident in their ability to succeed.
