Danis Itumbi has come out to clear a statement that President William Ruto four-term strategy being suggested, which was apparently stated by a member of parliament from UDA.
On Tuesday Nov 8th, the digital strategist and a close friend to William Ruto, Itumbi spoke out against a proposal to extend the term limit for the presidency.
Neither President Ruto’s approval nor his signature are required for this action, which I strongly disagree with.
” I’ve gotten a lot of calls from worried Kenyan citizens who want to know the UDA party’s stance ragarding Fafi MP’s announcement that he wants to abolish the president’s term limit and age limits. In my capacity as the Chairman, I want to be crystal clear that what MP Yakub said was not related to UDA in any way. We the UDA party believe in free and fair elections, and we will continue to back the two term limit for the presidency, despite recent calls to abolish it.” He stated.
It appears that the proposed action is not gaining atraction, especially among President Ruto’s loyalists, with Boni Khalwale senator of Kakamega and Johnson Muthama supporting Itumbi.
“Representative Salah Yakub of the Fafi Constituency was just sworn in as an honorable member of parliament. Right now, I can only assume his identity. He is entitled to free expression as any other Kenyan.” Itumbi added.
“In spite of this, he has to be informed that the UDA is committed to the theory of Structure and Essential Provisions in the Constitution of Kenya. Salah was wrong and totally out of order.” Khalwale added.
Yakub revealed that conversations had took place in secrete but he did not reveal the names of the parliamentarians who were supporting the mortion or whether the UDA leaders supported it.
Surpose such proposal goes forward, Ruto might be in control for 20 years, until he’s 75 years old. But Kenya’s fifth president hasn’t mentioned staying in office longer than allowed by law.
