DCI operatives pursue and shoot dead armed suspect in Githurai 44

In a daring ambush in Githurai 44, a motorist was held at gunpoint by an armed suspect who demanded his valuables.

The suspect was aided by an accomplice who rode in on a motorcycle that was believed to have been prepared for a quick getaway.

The victim was left in distress and wandering in search of help after the suspects had fled the scene.

DCI operatives, who were on a routine patrol, responded to the victim’s distress call.

The officers quickly located the suspects and began chasing them towards Mokoe Road.

During the pursuit, the suspects attempted to evade the officers but were unable to do so.

As the officers closed in on the suspects, the armed robber disembarked from the motorcycle and began shooting towards the officers while running towards a footpath.

In response, the officers returned fire and in the exchange of gunfire, the armed suspect was shot dead.

The other suspect managed to escape.

Upon conducting a search of the deceased suspect, the officers recovered a loaded Czeska pistol.

Police have taken the body to the City Mortuary as investigations into the case continue.

Residents of Githurai have lauded the efforts of the DCI operatives in their swift response to the victim’s distress call and subsequent pursuit of the suspects.

This latest incident serves as a reminder of the need for continued vigilance and cooperation with the authorities to combat crime in the area.
