Detailing the events that took place on February 8, DCI Amin noted that Matiang’i had informed his guards of an impending arrest and ordered them to lock out the press from his compound. The former CS then instructed the guards to allow the police access to his home but to lock out the press. The statement further noted that a communication team alerted media houses, which caused a nationwide alarm. Amin faulted the media for rushing to publish the reports without conducting the necessary checks to ascertain the matter’s concreteness.
