Dida, the oldest and biggest female Tusker in Africa, has died at the ripe old age of 60 to 65, according to Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS).
Dida was featured in several documentaries and was a must-see for visitors.
KWS announced Dida’s death from old age on their official Twitter account.
Dida, according to KWS, “was really an iconic matriarch of Tsavo and a wonderful reservoir of many decades’ worth of wisdom.” She guided her herd through many seasons and difficult times, and she was the focus of several documentaries as well as a major draw for visitors.
KWS said, “Those who got to know her via pictures and videos as well as those who had the exquisite pleasure of meeting her in person will remember her.”
