Former classmates of Kenya’s Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua held a reunion at Harambee House Annex on Monday, March 6.
Gachagua, who credited the school with nurturing his leadership skills, met with alumni for the first time in 45 years.
The gathering was marked by light-hearted moments as Gachagua and his former classmates recalled shared experiences from their time at school.
Gachagua credited his success to his high school principal, Julius Kano Ndumbi, who molded and encouraged him to follow his dreams.
The reunion also served as a launching point for a new initiative by the alumni to mentor and offer financial support to current students.
The next reunion, scheduled for March 18, will include the school’s principal and former support staff members.
Gachagua hopes to use this opportunity to assess the school’s needs and improve its performance.
Finally, Gachagua emphasized the importance of sharing personal experiences to mentor young people, and to motivate students to pursue their own success stories.
