The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary-General, Edwin Sifuna, has rubbished the decision by city lawyer, Steve Ogolla, to represent former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman, Wafula Chebukati. According to Sifuna, Ogolla is only interested in the high-value subject matter, Raila Odinga, and the opportunity to earn a big payout.

Sifuna, who is a lawyer himself and runs the Watenya Sifuna and Company Advocates, stated that lawyers only charge fees based on the value of the subject matter. He believed that Ogolla was taking advantage of this opportunity to earn a huge sum of money.
In a recent demand letter, Chebukati asked Raila Odinga to produce CCTV footage to prove his claims that three former commissioners visited his house. Chebukati warned that he would take legal action if the footage was not produced within seven days.
The demand letter stated that Chebukati was upset about Raila’s remarks made during the Jacaranda rally, which caused serious reputational harm to Chebukati’s image. The letter also mentioned that Raila had the opportunity to present this claim before the Supreme Court, but chose to make the announcement at a political rally instead.
The remarks made by Raila Odinga have also sparked a reaction from President William Ruto. Ruto wondered why Raila did not produce the video evidence in court and instead chose to make the announcement at a political rally. The situation has sparked a heated debate in the country and raises questions about the credibility of Raila’s claims.
