Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are fighting for recalls to the England squad, as is Eric Dier of Tottenham, and the manager is also considering Ivan Toney and Harvey Elliott. On Thursday, Gareth Southgate will make his last World Cup roster selection for the Three Lions.
Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, both of Manchester United, have been lobbying to be included in England’s final squad ahead of World Cup.
This is a key decision for the England manager. The chances of either making Southgate’s final squad for Qatar in two months are low if they don’t make the cut for the upcoming Nations League matches against Italy and Germany.
However, Rashford’s fitness is in doubt since he was left off of the Man Utd team that will play against Sheriff today in the Europa League.
It’s seeming more and more likely that Eric Dier, a player for Tottenham, will return to the England squad after an almost two-year absence.
The England boss is seriously considering Harvey Elliott of Liverpool and Ivan Toney of Brentford, but it’s too early to tell if either will be called up.
