Ethan Nwaneri: Arsenal 15-year-old become EPL youngest player

Published on

Ethan Nwaneri, a midfielder for Arsenal, made his Premier League debut as a substitute in the Gunners’ 3-0 victory over Brentford on Saturday. He is only 15 years and 181 days old.

“It was a pure gut feeling, I met the kid and I liked what I saw” Mikel Arteta stated.

Mikel Arteta claimed he brought in Ethan Nwaneri, 15, as a late substitution in their 3-0 win at Brentford because he had a “gut feeling” about doing so.

The midfielder broke the record formerly held by Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott, who made his Premier League debut for Fulham in May of 2019 at the age of 16 years and 30 days.

But Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, feels the youngster player now has an opportunity to prove his worth with the Gunners.

“It was a pure gut feeling, I met the kid and I liked what I saw. He has trained a couple of times with us and I had a feeling yesterday that if the opportunity came I would do it.” said Arteta
