Facebook relationship turns dangerous for woman traveling to party

Date:

A man, whom a woman met on Facebook, promised her a house party that would end well.

The woman, excited about the event, dressed up and traveled four hours from Nairobi to Meru with a friend to meet the man.

The two had built a relationship through messages without the woman realizing the danger she was in, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

The man asked the women to board another vehicle headed to Maua and alight at a bus stop known as kwa Amos.

The women became skeptical after the man apologized for the sudden change of the party’s location and led them down a dark path.

As they approached a main road, they screamed for help, and the man stabbed one of them before fleeing into the darkness.

A good Samaritan helped the injured woman to Muthara hospital, where she was later transferred to Meru Teaching and Referral hospital for specialized treatment.

Police in Maua has launched a manhunt for the suspect.
