Fire in Kibera slums kills one-month-old baby

Date:

The police in Nairobi are investigating a fire that caused the death of a one-month-old baby in the Kibera slums.

The fire occurred on Sunday evening while the baby was asleep on a couch.

According to the mother, she left the baby in the house with a lit candle and went outside for fresh air.

Later, she heard screams that the house was on fire.

Despite the locals’ efforts to contain it, the fire spread quickly and destroyed nearby buildings.

Initial investigations show that the fire was started by the candle and that it also affected nearby buildings.

The police have observed an increase in fire incidents that cause property destruction in the city.

In another incident in Uhuru estate, unknown property was destroyed, and the police suspect that a cooking gas cylinder caused the fire.

No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

The baby’s remains were taken to the City morgue for examination.
