The former Interior Cabinet Secretary of Kenya, Fred Matiang’i, left the country just days before he was expected to appear at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters.
On February 28, the Immigration Department sent a letter to the DCI stating that Matiang’i had departed from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on February 19, 2023, on KLM flight number KL 566.

The letter did not disclose his final destination, but sources onboard the flight claimed that it was headed for Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
According to FlightAware, the flight took off at 12:04 am on February 19 and arrived at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport at 6:27 am.
Matiang’i was supposed to appear for questioning regarding a raid that allegedly took place at his Karen home on February 8.
It is unclear why he left the country before his scheduled interrogation.
