    Former County Official Arrested by EACC for Hiring Daughter

    Alfred Wafula Weswa, the former majority leader of the Trans Nzoia County Assembly, was detained by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for hiring his daughter.

    On Thursday, November 17, police in Kitale made an arrest and brought Weswa before the Anti-Corruption Court.

    In addition, EACC said that the accused had conflicted interests on August 31, 2015, while his daughter was being considered for the job of Committee Clerk 1.
    Wafula faced charges for allegedly violating the constitution, including the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act of 2003 and the Leadership and Integrity Act of 2012.

    The rules of leadership and government are laid forth in the 2012 Administration and Integrity Act. All State officials are obligated to uphold the law and respect the Constitution.

    While the 2003 Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act provide a legislative framework to lead the fight against corruption and economic crimes in Kenya.

    On the other hand, he has rejected all of the accusations made against him. On December 7, 2022, his case will be heard in court.

    The former county employee was presented with a bond of ksh300,000 or a ksh100,000 cash bail.
