Lawyers representing former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i clashed with detectives at the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) headquarters on March 7.
The altercation began when the DCI officers tried to photograph Matiang’i while holding the DCI logo used for taking mugshots.
The lawyers objected, arguing that it would damage Matiang’i’s reputation.
The former CS was interrogated for only a few minutes before the detectives deviated from the subject to question Matiang’i’s source of wealth.
The lawyers advised Matiang’i not to respond to anything outside the summons and to invoke article 49 to remain silent.
Matiang’i was held for five hours before being released.
The DCI charged him with conspiracy to commit a felony and publication of false information charges following his alleged false statement on an unconfirmed raid at his home on February 8.
