Governor Fernandes Barasa of Kakamega County has committed to funding secondary school for KCPE top student Otieno Lewis Omondi.
After beating out all 1.2 million other students who took the national exams, Barasa announced on Wednesday, December 21 that the county will pay for the top student’s complete high school education.
The Governor went on to say that the whole nation was in a festive mood since their county had performed so exceptionally well.
He also gave credit to Lewis’s primary school and its teachers for their part in developing Lewis’s potential.
Teachers and parents spoke highly of Omondi, seeing him as a devout young man with much potential.
Ann Onyancha, the school’s principal, said that Omondi has consistently shown excellent academic achievement during his eight years there.
