Gunners earn winning start to Europa League

Arsenal kicked off their Europa League campaign with a 2-1 win over FC Zurich on Wednesday night, with the players holding a minute of silence before the start of the second half to tribute the memory of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Gunners got off to a sluggish start but eventually found their footing and seized the lead in the 16th minute after finishing off a sweeping counterattack.
On his debut for the club, Marquinhos scored an impressive goal after Eddie Nketiah broke free with the ball and played him in.

In the second half, FC Zurich made a comeback when Nketiah was called for a foul on Fidan Aliti inside the box. Mirlind Kryeziu stepped up to the penalty spot and made no mistake, blasting the ball past Matt Turner to draw FC Zurich level.

Nketiah scored the game-winning goal for Arsenal in the 62nd minute, by heading home Marquinhos’ cross at the back post.

Arsenal who are currently on top of the EPL table, will host Everton on Sunday evening.
