Hours before vetting, cases against Aisha Jumwa were granted a reprieve.

Aisha Jumwa, a Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) candidate, was granted relief in a murder case in which she is a co-accused.

The family asked to settle the issue out of court on Tuesday, October 18, before Parliament vetted Jumwa, saying she was not a primary culprit in the case.

An ex-Malindi lawmaker has written to DPP Noordin Haji and the court, requesting to testify as a state witness in light of the recent developments.

She plans to testify against her bodyguard if her plea is granted by DPP Haji and the court.

The prosecution might either agree to dismiss the accusations against the ex-Malindi MP or pursue the case to a full hearing on the basis of national interest.

Tuesday afternoon is Jumwa’s planned appearance before the National Assembly Vetting Committee.
