Fatuma Gedi, a former woman representative for Wajir, has accused Hussein Marjan, the chief executive officer of the Independence Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), of appointing his wife to the position of Mombasa County Returning Officer.
“In Mombasa, it is unfortunate that the IEBC CEO Marjan Marjan recruited his wife to be Mombasa county’s returning officer. That is a conflict of interest and there is a scheme to deny the people of Mombasa their will by rigging,” she said.
On Saturday, August 27, at a press conference held in Upperhill by the Azimio La Umoja Coalition, Gedi criticized the IEBC head for the action that amounted to a conflict of interest. Gedi’s comments were directed against the IEBC chief.
