President William Ruto has received a report from a tribunal led by Justice Aggrey Muchelule recommending the removal of four Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners, including Commissioner Irene Masit, due to proven allegations of gross misconduct and violation of the constitution.

The tribunal clarified that its mandate was limited to determining whether the commissioners should continue serving in the IEBC and did not cover eligibility, recruitment, and appointment issues.
Ruto stressed the importance of upholding the Constitution and resisting the urge to break it.
However, he did not provide a timeline for his response to the tribunal’s recommendations.
