If four dissident Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners are removed from office, Azimio la Umoja has threatened significant consequences, including a boycott of the 2027 General Election.

On Saturday, November 26, the proposal was announced by Makau Mutua, a spokesman for the coalition.

Commissioners Irine Masit, Justus Nyangaya, and Francis Wanderi, together with Vice Chairwoman Juliana Cherera, were accused of working to undermine the will of the people.

Mutua, on the other hand, insisted that the four were chosen to settle scores because Ruto intends to take over control of the IEBC before 2027.

Raila was reportedly concerned that Ruto’s government would bring havoc in the next 2027 General Election, according to earlier sources.

It crossed Azimio’s mind to call for further public demonstrations to keep the government in check.

To avoid appearing before the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC), Raila Odinga, head of the Azimio party, encouraged the four IEBC commissioners who had rejected the August 9 Presidential election results to ignore summons issued to them on Thursday, November 24.

It was a witch hunt, according to Odinga, who blamed the current government for his troubles.

He was critical of how quickly the Ruto government was moving to replace the four commissioners with people who would support them in the 2027 elections.

On the other hand, Ruto’s supporters believed that the four IEBC commissioners were really part of a plot to overthrow him.

Additionally, Ruto said that Raila was responsible for all of the country’s problems.
