IG Japheth Koome: Police may shoot gangs terrorizing Nairobi citizens.

    Published on

As he defended the use of force against the criminal gangs terrorizing the people of Nairobi, Inspector General (IG) Japhet Koome fired a warning at the criminals.

Soon after his November 11 inauguration to the Supreme Court, Koome announced his power with a mark of authority.

“If a person who has been arrested on suspicion of a crime, murder, or rape tries to flee from law enforcement, the officer is authorized to use deadly force to prevent the escape.

If an officer has detained a suspect for a criminal and you try to rescue that suspect, the officer may use his or her handgun against you as well.” Koome declared.
