On Thursday, February 9, Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor (Jalang’o) was blocked from attending the Azimio la Umoja Parliamentary Group (PG) in Machakos.
Minutes after Jalang’o arrived at the venue, he was asked to leave by one of Raila Odinga’s close security guards.
The MP was shielded by Raila’s loyalists and was eventually able to gain access to the venue.

Commotion Erupts as Jalang’o Attempts to Enter PG Venue
Upon his arrival at the venue, a group of men attempted to block Jalang’o from entering the hall.
This led to a commotion as his entourage attempted to force their way in. Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed had to intervene.
Some men were heard shouting at Jalang’o to go to the State House.
Jalang’o Attends PG Despite Criticism
The attempt to block Jalang’o from attending the PG was a result of criticism from ODM MPs who took issue with his attendance at a meeting with President William Ruto on Tuesday, February 7.
Jalang’o was accompanied by seven other MPs who were accused of dumping Raila for the government.
The legislators have refuted these claims and stated that the meeting was focused on development talks.
Jalang’o Explains Reason for Attending Ruto’s Meeting
The Lang’ata MP explained that Ruto called him to the State House to discuss a crucial project that would benefit his constituents.
He stated that as a leader, it was only noble for him to attend the meeting.
However, a section of ODM loyalists has warned him against engaging with the government and disobeying party orders.
