Lang’ata Member of Parliament, Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o, took a bold step and visited the State House despite his party leader’s possible opposition. During a recent interview with Spice FM, Jalang’o stated that his party leader, Raila Odinga, had given him a green light to attend meetings concerning development.
Going Against Party Orders
Despite the fact that Raila Odinga is the leader of Jalang’o’s party, the Lang’ata MP said that if he received a call to attend a State House meeting and his party leader said no, he would still go. He further added that if the meeting was about development, he would attend, otherwise, he would not.
People Come First
Jalang’o made it clear that the people of Lang’ata don’t care who the President is, but they want development in their constituency. He stated that at the end of the day, it’s the people who will judge him, regardless of politics.
Affordable Housing and TVET Development
On Tuesday, Jalang’o followed up on the start date of the construction of affordable housing in the Highrise ward and the completion of the Langata TVET. He had breakfast with the President and confirmed that the project is underway and that an extra Sh50 million has been located for the completion of the project.
Party’s Response
The meeting at the State House received backlash from Jalang’o’s party, with the party’s director of communications, Philip Etale, stating that the party has been closely monitoring some of the MPs’ behind-the-scenes activities and that Tuesday’s meeting was just the climax.
