Joe Mucheru, once the Cabinet Secretary for ICT, is now the President of JUMO, an international intelligent banking enterprise. Mucheru began his new role with JUMO in January 2023, and he will be based out of the company’s London headquarters.
As President of JUMO, Mucheru is responsible for facilitating the company’s development, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, and growing JUMO’s footprint throughout Africa. According to his LinkedIn page, JUMO is a financial technology startup that collaborates with banks, mobile network carriers, and e-commerce firms to provide cutting-edge financial services to people in developing economies in Africa and Asia.
JUMO takes great pleasure in serving as a conduit between entrepreneurs and funding by assisting them in creating unique financial profiles based on their past actions. Mucheru has a long history of success in the field of information technology, and he was already a recognized leader in the field before being appointed to a cabinet post by Uhuru Kenyatta.

Mucheru has been Chairman of the African Telecommunications Union since August 2018 and a member of the Global Board of UNICEF Generation Unlimited since July of same year. As the Google Sub-Saharan Africa Ambassador and Energy Access and Investment Regional Lead from 2014 to 2019, he has extensive experience in the digital sector.
Mucheru is Uhuru’s second Cabinet Secretary to land a high-profile overseas role. Najib Balalah, a former head of the Tourism Ministry, was appointed Vice President of Fauna & Flora International in November 2022.
