In his appeal contesting Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga’s election win, former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero hired the services of lawyer Julie Soweto.
On Friday, October 7, Soweto and the ex-governor attended the preliminary hearing for the matter at the Homa Bay High Court.
When the recent elections were held in the Nyanza region, Kidero was one of the few who campaigned against the Orange Democratic Movement party (ODM). The former governor of Nairobi contested as an independent candidate and finished in second place, behind Wanga.
Kidero stated that his agents were prevented from accessing some voting stations where his opponents tampered with the vote count.
He took legal action against Governor Wanga and the IEBC because he was unhappy with the outcome.
