Ayub Savula, the newly-elected deputy governor of Kakamega County, has made shocking accusations about being coerced into supporting the Azimio la Umoja coalition party.
At a funeral on Saturday, September 10, in Lumakanda, Savula said that despite his previous unshakable support for president-elect William Ruto, he now backs Raila Odinga because of the possibility of prosecution he faces for corruption.
His family had been dragged into the conflict, and he said he couldn’t do anything about the arrests made by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
“I was coerced to support Azimio and that is the truth. I decided to persevere because when they arrest me and my wives, who will pay the bail,” Savula stated.
A former lawmaker from Lugari pleaded with Ruto not to look down on political figures who do not back him. In addition, he said that he was ready to cooperate with the new administration for the sake of Kakamega County’s residents.
