The first national festivities of President William Ruto were held at the Uhuru Gardens, and they were attended by Kalonzo Musyoka, the head of Azimio-One Kenya.
Kalonzo was among the other high-ranking government officials seated at the main podium.
On the podium, Ruto greeted Kalonzo and exchanged words with him.
The President didn’t know Kalonzo was there until Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro notified him.
Given his earlier assertion that Azimio would not interact with the government in any capacity beyond keeping it in control, his appearance came as somewhat of a surprise.
Raila Odinga, head of the coalition’s party, is now on a 1-week trip to India, so it’s unclear whether he was aware that his deputy was there at the ceremony.
