It’s not uncommon for political parties to experience internal conflicts and fallouts, but Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is advocating for a different approach. After Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwour, also known as Jalang’o, was kicked out of the Azimio Parliamentary Group meeting, Kalonzo is calling for the party to extend mercy and not throw out the MP who simply wanted to apologize.

“Tolerance in the Face of Apology”
In a statement made on Tuesday, Kalonzo highlighted the importance of exercising tolerance, even when mistakes have been made. “Poor Jalang’o, in fact, I was looking for him. I’m still going to look for Jalang’o because he was here. We must also exercise tolerance when somebody wants to say sorry, don’t throw them out,” said Kalonzo. The Wiper leader also praised Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi for his loyalty to the party, despite his brother Moses Wetangula serving as the speaker of the National Assembly.
Jalang’o Kicked Out of Azimio Meeting
On Thursday, things took a turn for the worse for Lang’ata MP Jalang’o when he was blocked from accessing the hall where Azimio held its PG meeting. When Azimio leader Raila Odinga arrived, Jalang’o was told to leave by one of Raila’s security personnel. The MP was among a group of 9 lawmakers who visited Deputy President William Ruto at State House earlier this week, drawing backlash from some Azimio leaders, including Raila who called for their resignation from the party.
Despite the fallouts and political rivalries, Kalonzo is advocating for a more tolerant approach to resolving conflicts within the party. With his call for mercy for Jalang’o, he hopes to promote unity and resolve within the political arena.
