Karen residents want Sakaja to eliminate rental apartments and bars.

    Published on

Karen estate residents have complained to Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja about the proliferation of rental flats and bars that do not meet their specifications.

The complaining locals claimed that a sudden inflow of nightclubs and excessively tall rental buildings was to blame for their distress. Some residents complained that petrol stations and shopping malls had moved into their neighborhood.

The Karen and Lang’ata Districts Association (KLDA) released a statement on Monday, September 26 asking Sakaja to hasten the urban development regulations to ensure the neighborhood stays clean and safe.

In addition, they requested that Felix Odiwour (Jalang’o), the Member of Parliament for Lang’ata, and Anthony Maragu, the Member of the County Assembly for Karen Ward, get to know each other and their responsibilities in defending the Karen estate from outsiders.
