Martha Karua, the running partner of Azimio’s presidential candidate, attended Gladys Wanga’s inauguration as governor of Homa Bay.
On Thursday, the event took place at Homa Bay Stadium.
With 244,559 votes, Wanga easily defeated her nearest rival Evans Kidero, who got 154,182 votes and finished in second.
In succeeding Cyprian Awiti, she will make history as Homa Bay’s first female governor.
Wanga was chosen as the Woman Representative for the county in 2017, and she has since served for one term.
The governor campaigned for office on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party’s platform.
