Kenya Kwanza confirmed to be the majority in the National Assembly by Wetangula.

    Published on

Kenya Kwanza, led by President William Ruto, holds the majority of seats in the 13th parliament, according to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula’s ruling.

Wetangula stated that Kenya Kwanza is a coalition of parties with the majority members and as such complied with the legal requirements as the legitimate majority side.

Wetangula referenced Article 108 of the Constitution, which provides that the leader of the majority party would be in charge of the biggest party or alliance of parties.

As a result of the decision, Owen Baya, a Kilifi North MP, will serve as Kimani Ichungwah’s deputy as the Leader of the Majority.

Sylvanus Osoro, a member of parliament for South Mugirango, will be the majority whip, while Naomi Waqo, a representative for Marsabit Woman, will be the deputy majority whip.

Opiyo Wandayi, a Ugunja MP, will lead the minority side, while Kathiani legislator Robert Mbui will serve as his deputy.
